Mental Health & Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Unit
Staff is available to provide information and make referrals on a variety of mental health or alcohol and other drug abuse issues. Washburn County also contracts with a variety of mental health and alcohol and other drug abuse providers to provide service to individuals and families.

Mental Health Consultation and Referral
Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Consultation and Referral
Mental Health Crisis: At the request of law enforcement, mental health professionals will assess an individual to see what the least restrictive option is to ensure the person’s or the community’s safety in a mental health emergency situation.
Comprehensive Community Services (CCS): CCS serves adults and children with mental health and/or substance use disorders, who want to make changes in their lives, and be able to direct their own programs. CCS Brochure and Referral Form
Community Support Program (CSP): This is a voluntary community based case management program for persons with severe and persistent mental illness who need comprehensive services to assure the greatest quality of life in the most independent setting.
Psychiatric Services: Services are available for persons who do not have insurance, under-insured or otherwise unable to pay to see a psychiatrist and who are in need of psychotropic medications.
Indigent Medication Program: A registered nurse coordinates with the psychiatrist for medication programs that provides psychotropic (mental health) medications to persons who are indigent.
Intoxicated Drivers Program (IDP): This is the State mandated AODA assessment required for individuals who have received a citation for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.
Detox Services: A medically necessary hospital-based service for individuals in need of detoxification of alcohol or other drugs.
AODA Residential Services: We contract with various AODA treatment facilities to assist individuals who are dependent/abusing alcohol and/or other drugs to become drug free and begin a recovery process in a safe and secure environment, averaging a 30-day stay.
Mental Health Residential Services: We contract with several Community Based Residential Facilities and Adult Family Homes for persons with mental health or AODA challenges who are unable to currently live independently and are in need of extra support and services.
