County Treasurer

The Washburn County Treasurer’s Office manages property tax payments, real estate tax records, and address changes for tax statements. The office ensures property taxes are collected efficiently, including offering online payment options and managing lottery and gaming credits. It also supports residents with geographic information systems (GIS) and parcel maps for land-related inquiries. Residents can find resources for real estate document updates and participate in land auctions managed by the office.

Washburn County Property Taxes are payable in two installments. The first is due by January 31 and is paid to the township treasurer. The second is due by July 31 and is paid to the county treasurer at the Courthouse.

Name Changes (Add/Change/Remove) on Real Estate Tax Statements:
Please contact a Real Estate Attorney to draft the necessary legal documents for a Name Change on Real Estate Documents and record them at the Register of Deeds Office.

Lottery & Gaming Credit

The lottery and gaming credit is direct property tax relief to qualifying taxpayers in the form of a credit on their property tax bill.

Who Qualifies

You may claim a lottery and gaming credit if, on January 1, you are a Wisconsin resident and you are a recorded owner of the property and the property is your primary residence. You can have only one primary residence. Rental or other properties DO NOT qualify for lottery credit.

Applying for the Credit

When you receive your tax bill and a lottery and gaming credit is NOT shown and you are eligible, contact your local treasurer and fill out a lottery and gaming credit application form. The amount of tax due will be adjusted. If you find that you DO have a lottery and gaming credit and SHOULD NOT, contact your local treasurer and have it removed. The amount of tax due will be adjusted. These adjustments by the local treasurer need to be done before January 31.

After January 31st, please contact:
