LTE Jailer/Dispatcher
Washburn County is accepting applications for a LTE (casual status) Jailer/Dispatcher. The Dispatcher will relay messages and dispatch personnel and equipment by radio communication in response to crimes, accidents, fires, medical emergencies, etc. The employee is responsible for the receipt and accurate transcription of messages by radio and telephone and for various clerical functions in the Sheriff’s Department. As a Jailer, the employee performs a variety of duties involving the operation of the jail and the safety and security of inmates. The work is performed within the established guidelines and under the general supervision of the Jail Administrator and Sheriff. Candidates must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more and occasionally deal with and or subdue unruly inmates. Must possess a valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one. Starting pay is $20.07 during training and increases to $23.58 upon successful completion of training. Washburn County is accepting applications for a full-time, in-office Information Technology Support Specialist position to work in the Information Technology Department. The IT Support Specialist will support and maintain in-house computer desktops, laptops and peripherals. This position assists users with the technology resources necessary to perform their business tasks, which includes but is not limited to Windows Operating System, MS Office Products, PC’s, printers, Cisco phone system, and mobile electronic devices; support and maintain in-house computer desktops, laptops and peripherals. This includes new user setup, installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment, while ensuring optimal workstation and network performance. Specialist helps research and solve high-level issues. This person will also be trained as backup to the Network Tech. Considerable independent judgment and discretion are required in dealing with unusual circumstances as well as confidential personnel matters. The individual will troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user training and assistance where required. The individual works under supervision of the IT Director, however the vast amount of functions will be performed independently. This position also requires every other week after-hour, on-call availability, including weekends.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, supplemented by at least 1 year of related experience or; Associate degree from an accredited college or junior college in computer or electronics technology supplemented by two years of PC networking and data communication experience and; Any substantial and direct combination of training and experience equivalent to Windows Operating Systems and Network experience using personal computers is highly desirable.

Washburn County is accepting applications for the Account Clerk III position with the Washburn County Health and Human Services Department. This position is responsible for vouchering, receipts, data entry into financial and peripheral systems, tracking spending by department/business units, maintaining confidential client files, case management, client billing, and other financial and clerical tasks. A two-year vocational or associate’s degree in accounting or related field or relevant work experience is preferred, followed by two years of relevant experience which provides the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities. More extensive experience or demonstrated knowledge may be considered instead of a degree. Experience with computerized accounts receivable/payable, payroll, word processing, spreadsheet systems, and ten-key skills necessary.

Judicial Assistant
Washburn County is currently accepting applications for a Judicial Assistant. This position performs confidential and highly responsible administrative and varied support work for the Judge. Duties involve complex work problems and situations requiring individual judgment, initiative, exercise of discretion, and thorough familiarity with court operations, laws, and procedures. This position reports to the Circuit Court Judge, with collaboration from the Clerk of Courts.
The employee will be expected to act as the scheduling clerk in calendaring trials, hearings, pretrial conferences, etc. The employee will be expected to confer and correspond with attorneys and exhibit firmness in securing compliance with matters scheduled on the court calendar.
The primary responsibility of the employee is to act as the judge’s secretary and the scheduling clerk. An associate’s degree is preferred or at least 2 years of related office experience and secondary courses/degree in a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Clerical skills shall include being proficient in typing, reading, proofreading, and interpreting legal documents; use of computers with MS Office and operation of general office machines. Must be able to learn and utilize software that is required by the State of Wisconsin.
Hours are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but will be determined by the court docket. The starting pay range is $21.24-$23.60 per hour, depending on qualifications plus excellent benefits.

Washburn County is accepting applications for a Full Time Secretary/Receptionist with the Sheriff’s Office. An employee in this position performs a variety of secretarial and clerical tasks as well as specific support duties of the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office. Some of these duties include: answering telephone calls; greeting the public and directing staff/clients to meetings; data entry, receiving and receipt money from numerous sources for the department; performing record checks; The employee must have experience with MS Office suite; the ability to transcribe dictation; and prepare reports from records maintains confidentiality of privileged information and personal facts obtained from inmates, family, or staff members. Considerable judgment is required in establishing and adapting work procedures to new and unusual situations.
Work is performed under the general direction of the Law Enforcement Assistant and the Sheriff. Completion of a standard high school course; a business or vocational school training desirable; equivalent combination of experience and training which provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Equipment Operator
Washburn County is seeking applicants for one immediate opening and to establish an employment pool that will be used to develop the eligibility list to fill Equipment Operator vacancies with the Highway Department that may occur within the next twelve months.
This equipment operator is responsible for operating various equipment and trucks utilized in snow removal operations, highway construction, highway maintenance, and repair activities. Qualifications – High school diploma or equivalent;
Knowledge of techniques utilized in shaping road ditches, installing drainage structures and excavation operations; and the skills required for effective operation and use of assigned vehicles, equipment, tools, and materials; Must be able to obtain CDL within 3 months from date of hire. Starting wage is $22.90 per hour/hr plus excellent benefits.
