District 19 Washburn County Board Supervisor

District 19 Washburn County Board Supervisor opening for the remainder of the current term, expiring in April of 2026.

District 19 represents Ward 4 of the City of Spooner and Ward 1 of the Town of Evergreen. A map of District 19 can be found on the County website or from the County Clerk. Eligible Candidates must be 18 years old and a resident of the district.

DEADLINE: Letters of interest must be received by 4:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025 to be considered.

The Executive Committee will review all letters of interest at their committee meeting scheduled on January 14th, 2025. Candidates will be asked to attend the January 21st, 2025 County Board meeting to introduce themselves. The County Board Chair will appoint the selected candidate

Secretary / Receptionist Sheriff

Washburn County is accepting applications for a Full Time Secretary/Receptionist with the Sheriff’s Office. An employee in this position performs a variety of secretarial and clerical tasks as well as specific support duties of the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office. Some of these duties include: answering telephone calls; greeting the public and directing staff/clients to meetings; data entry, receiving and receipt money from numerous sources for the department; performing background checks; The employee must have experience with MS Office suite; the ability to take and or transcribe dictation; and prepare reports from records maintains confidentiality of privileged information and personal facts obtained from inmates, family, or staff members. Considerable judgment is required in establishing and adapting work procedures to new and unusual situations.

 

Work is performed under the general direction of the Law Enforcement Assistant and the Sheriff. Completion of a standard high school course; a business or vocational school training desirable; equivalent combination of experience and training which provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

The position requires the successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and background check. Starting wage is $19.92-$21.96/hr. DOQ, plus excellent benefits. Transport Driver/Back up Dispatcher for the ADRC

Washburn County is currently accepting applications for a 32-hour-per-week Transport Driver/Backup Dispatcher for the ADRC of Washburn County. The driver will transport elderly and or disabled citizens in and outside of Washburn County to various destinations such as grocery shopping or to doctors’ appointments.

Candidates should have experience working with older adults and/or people with disabilities. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, be certified or be willing to become certified in CPR, AED, first aid, and be able to procure a Passenger Assistance Techniques Certification (PAT); have good communication skills and possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s license with a good driving record. This position also will require being a backup dispatcher for the Program Coordinator. Must have computer experience and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel programs.

Public Health Supervisor/Health Officer

Washburn County is seeking applicants for a Full-time Public Health Supervisor/Health Officer within the Health and Human Services Department. This position provides leadership, management, and supervision of public health programs and staff; provides day to day direction to health professional and non-professional staff as assigned; develops, provides, and coordinates public health services with clients and other agencies. The Public Health Supervisor provides management direction, planning, organizing, and evaluating of public health programs and services provided to clients and the community.  The work is performed according to all applicable codes, statutes, rules and regulations under the direction of the Health & Human Services Director.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, biological sciences or Nursing from an accredited program; three years public health agency experience, including responsibility for a communicable disease prevention and control program, preferably in a supervisory or other administrative position; supervisory experience preferred; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
