Land Information

The Washburn County Land Information Office manages and modernizes land records, including survey data, parcel maps, aerial photography, road records, and geographic information systems (GIS) layers. These resources are used by the public and county departments for planning, property management, and mapping. The department also provides tools like fire number applications, parcel maps, and data downloads to enhance access to land-related information.

County Surveyor

The County Surveyor has two primary duties:

First, to maintain the U.S. Public Land Survey System (USPLSS) corners and monuments within Washburn County. The USPLSS controls property boundaries and is the basis of land title. Substantial time and tax dollars are spent every year to maintain the USPLSS monuments. If you are aware of any activity that may disturb a USPLSS corner please contact the Washburn County Surveyor immediately at 715-468-4791Any party found guilty of disturbing a Washburn County Monument without documented permission by the Washburn County Surveyor, is punishable by law!

Second, the County Surveyor has a shared responsibility in the Administration and Enforcement of Chapter 62 – SUBDIVISIONS, of the Washburn County Code of Ordinances. It is recommended that anyone considering dividing lands or altering lot lines, consult the County Surveyor and Zoning Administrator, to ensure that the necessary steps are taken, and that no violations occur.
