Land Information

The Washburn County Land Information Office manages and modernizes land records, including survey data, parcel maps, aerial photography, road records, and geographic information systems (GIS) layers. These resources are used by the public and county departments for planning, property management, and mapping. The department also provides tools like fire number applications, parcel maps, and data downloads to enhance access to land-related information.

County Surveyor

The primary duty of the County Surveyor is to maintain Public Land Survey System (PLSS) monuments within Washburn County. The PLSS controls property boundaries and is the basis of land title. It is estimated that about 95 percent of PLSS monuments are in place in Washburn County, and approximately 2,900 PLSS monuments have Geographic coordinates. Currently, Washburn County is involved with a countywide PLSS Corner restoration project. Substantial time and tax dollars are spent every year to establish and maintain PLSS monuments. If you are aware of any activity that may disturb a PLSS corner please contact the Washburn County Surveyor immediately at 715-468-4791.

Any party found guilty of disturbing a Washburn County Monument without documented permission by the Washburn County Surveyor, is punishable by law!
