Washburn County Forestry, Parks and Recreation Department maintains two ski trail systems. Current status of these systems are as follows:

Nordic Woods Ski Trail: Located just southwest of Stone Lake, Nordic Woods offers an excellent trail for hiking during the summer and fall. There is a total of 12.6 kilometers (7 miles) of trails with cut across trails giving you the option of skiing a number of different loops.  During the winter months, Nordic Woods offers an excellent groomed and tracked ski trail for classic skiing on one side, where the other side is groomed for skate style skiing. Nordic Woods offers two parking locations. One is located off of Dubois Road on the south side of Highway 70. The other is located off of County Highway B.

Condition Update: As of 2/19/2026, grooming operations have halted and will not continue until sufficient snow accumulations have been reached again. Current packed snow base is unknown due to the recent warm weather and rainfall received. Trails will remain open at this time, but will not be groomed until further notice. If you do venture out, please be aware that trail conditions will most likely be less than ideal. Please use caution.

Totogatic Ski Trail: Located 2 miles north of Minong on Highway 53, Totogatic Ski Trail offers great hiking during the summer and fall. With a total of 11.1 kilometers (6.9 miles) of trails with multiple shortcuts and cut across sections, there is an endless number of routes you can take. During the winter months, Totogatic Ski Trail is groomed and tracked for classic skiing on one side, where the other side is groomed for skate style skiing.
