Immunizations
Immunizations help to keep all residents of Washburn County healthy.
Immunizations, also called vaccinations, can prevent many life-threatening diseases, and help people of all ages live longer, healthier lives. Infants, children, adolescents and adults need different vaccinations depending on their age, location, job, lifestyle, travel schedule, health conditions and previous vaccinations. Washburn County Public Health is an Accessible Vaccine Clinic through partnership with the Autism Society of Wisconsin. Our Public Health Department is able to provide a calm, supportive environment for individuals with autism. These clinics feature trained staff, reduced wait times, and sensory kits with visual supports to ensure a safe, accommodating experience.
Vaccines for Children (VFC)
Washburn County Public Health offers vaccines at no cost from Wisconsin Department of Health Services through the Vaccines for Children program.
Children ages 18 years and younger are eligible if they:
- Are enrolled or eligible for Medicaid.
- Are American Indian or Alaska Native, as defined by the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (25 U.S.C 1603).
- Don’t have health insurance.
- Have health insurance that doesn’t pay for all vaccines, making them eligible through a Federal Qualified Health Center or a Rural Health Clinic. To find a federally qualified health center near you, click here. (For example, Northlakes Community Clinic).
Vaccines for Adults (VFA)
Washburn County Public Health offers vaccines at no cost from Wisconsin Department of Health Services through the Vaccines for Adults program.
Adults ages 18 years and younger are eligible if they are:
- Uninsured
- Underinsured (if your insurance does not cover the cost of flu vaccines)
Vaccines offered through the VFA program include: Tdap, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, MMR, Flu (Seasonally), and COVID-19 (Seasonally)
